Other Additives

Lye (Sodium Hydroxide)

Lye is the agent that makes the chemical reaction in soap. It turns the liquid oils into a hard bar. When the oils have saponified, the sodium hydroxide dissolves making the soap bar all natural, no chemicals.

This is an essential piece in soap making. If lye is not used, it cannot be considered soap!

Sodium lactate

This food grade ingredient and is the "salt of lactic acid"- the chemical compound in our bodies when we break down carbohydrates.

This natural ingredient is crucial to making a good, solid bar of soap. This is essentially a softener and it prevents the bar from cracking and becoming soft.

BMT-25 Conditioning Emulsifier

This ingredient is quaternary ammonium salt derived from rapeseed oil and essential to creating that smooth, thick and creamy lotion. It bonds the oils and water together so that you're not stuck with your lotion separating, or becoming too oily.
